Dozens come out in support of March 4 Fascism

By the time we rolled out of bed and got to the mall, we found dozens of folks waving flags and complaining about abortion.

There was plenty of honking and hollering, most of all from the lifted trucks that white folks in RR enjoy driving so much. Carrying stuff from their farms? No, probably just stuff from the mall. Some of those trucks have very big horns too. It’s fascinating the way americans hold on to their obnoxious and wealthy lifestyles even as the planet burns.

It’s unfortunate, but local news sources say another March 4 Trump happened a little closer to ABQ proper: in North Domingo Baca Park. (Are white people afraid to go past Paseo del Norte or somethin?) Too bad we had missed the “Main Street Patriots” event. It’s a long bus ride to the Cottonwood Mall!

But, aside from blasting horns, flapping flags, fascist mutterings, and blasts of exhaust from a ten-foot tall dodge durango, it was pretty much a non-event. It sort of reminds this author of when democrats would rally for Obama: a non-event. Supporting the status quo isn’t daring or imaginative and you could see that lack of imagination on full display at the March 4 Trump.

Your energy has been diverted away from your own life and into the spectacle of “politics.”

That’s the problem with Presidents. Once you get behind them, they will sap you of your energy and your nerve. It’s not an act of empowerment to wave an american flag; it’s an act of complicity. And half these folks don’t even know or think about what the united states has been complicit in. Or how it continues to be complicit.

Presidents sap you of your ability to act for yourself. Republicans and democrats alike,  they get their team in office and then sit back, crack a brewski, and then either complain or cheer. Politics is like football; its more fun when you participate.

Well, this article makes the right look a little more fun. “This is just the first. It’s the beginning and it’s totally grassroots,” says their organizer, Jalene Lyon. What does this mean to a group like this? Book clubs? More picnics? Or surveillance and snitching on brown bodies? Only time will tell.

We’ll be waiting in the meantime. “Come out and plaaa~aaay…”

Shut Down March 4 Trump Albuquerque

Donald Trump is probably the least popular president in US history.

At least the least popular since GW Bush.

In an effort to rally up a bit of support, his white supremacist fan-base is hosting “March 4 Trump” in Washington DC and in most major cities. The Albuquerque event is being held almost in Rio Rancho, which tells you a bit about his supporters (come wave flags at Central and Louisiana if y’all so tough). (For comparison’s sake, the local #J20 rally was held downtown, in a cold and miserable drizzle.)

Berkeley shows the way.

We consider it an ethical obligation on the part of anyone opposed to white supremacy, settler colonialism, sexual normativity, and/or fascism to show up and fight back. Guilty white liberals who feel “overwhelmed” by the Drumpf agenda should feel particularly obligated to come and make sure native, black, trans, queer, and undocumented folk are de-arrested in case the police show up. Also, white people, some of these people might be your racist uncles, so instead of just yelling at them on Facebook maybe you can come and talk them out of shooting people (every racist uncle’s favorite fantasy).

In any case, the forty-one or so locals who have signed up for the event as of this posting should not feel comfortable chanting their racist, oppressive slogans. They need to see that they are opposed, they need to see that Albuquerque is ungovernable.

When: March 4, 9:15 AM (come early to shut it down)

Where: Northwest Transit Center, 10401 Ellison NW, Albuquerque, NM

Who: You, your friends, your affinity group, your whole organization.

What: Bring banners, flags, shields, fire extinguishers – anything you need to keep yourself and your allies safe.

(If you’re dropping by this page from another physical location, you can find your local brown-shirt rally here. Stay dangerous!)
